why northernettes synchro?

“I love the countless opportunities I get from the Northernettes and how it continues to challenge my skating. Being on a team changed my perspective on skating and was able to show me the unison and precision of this sport. The team culture is heavily based on our work ethic and our shared goals. Each skater is trusted and counted on to show up and try their hardest, which provides a healthy training environment. The coaches
push us to be the best we can, and all of us as a group support each other. I hope that future Northernettes skaters get to experience the incredible memories, such as competing across the world with their best friends, as I have been lucky enough to do.” -Isabel |

"What I’ve loved most about being a part of this organization are the endless opportunities it’s given me and how it constantly pushes me to grow as a skater. Being on a team completely changed how I see skating. It taught me how powerful unison and precision can be, and how much stronger we are when we’re working together. The team culture is really special. It’s built on hard work and shared goals, and everyone is counted on to show up and give their best. That kind of trust and support makes for such a positive and encouraging environment. The coaches are always pushing us to be better, and we’re all there for each other, no matter what. I hope future Northernettes skaters get to experience the same amazing memories and opportunities I’ve had from training together to traveling and competing with your best friends. It’s truly something special.”

"I wanted to join Northernettes because it gave me an
opportunity to continue to skate at a competitive level in college, and coming from South Dakota where I never really had a big community of skaters, finding that here has been really special. I think it has taught me how important community is, especially when reaching big goals like medaling at nationals, it's something bigger than yourself. I could never be a National Medalist in singles, but together we can accomplish so much more. Taking a year off put into perspective how much I missed having every single girl on the team working toward the same goal, where the success of each person is directly tied to the success of the group. If one of us falls, we all fall. I love that shared competitive nature and as someone who's very competitive, it's amazing to be surrounded by others who share that same drive. The Northernettes have given me access and opportunities I never could have had in South Dakota, and I'm so grateful for this team and the community we've built." -joelle |

"I heard about the Northernettes through some older girls at my rink, and they told me they were making a new team for kids my age. I was super scared, but everyone was so nice, and I just kind of fell in love with all the people there and wanted to be friends with them, so I joined. Because of injuries, I wasn't able to enjoy indivudal skating the way I wanted to, and synchro has provided me a chance to love skating again. The culture has alway been very welcoming and positive - everyone is there for you, always smiling and wanting to have a good time. The coaches really inspire me to be the best version of myself and to keep doing what I love. I hope future Northenettes get the chance to look at skating in a differnt way, build friendships, and have the opportunity to travel the world with their friends while competing."

"Being able to do the sport I love but with 19 other girls who are passionate about the same thing is so special. It has also changed my perspective on skating, and taught me that you do not have to choose just one style of skating - you have the ability to do and try it all!
I would describe our team's culture as a fun, energetic family that supports each other. Synchro is everything you see from figure skating but times 16, doing it in unison. I hope that future Northernettes skaters get to experience the ability to go overseas and represent Team USA with their teammates and closest friends as I have. It's truly the most amazing experience! -Peyton |

"I joined the Northernettes because a couple of skaters at my club were doing it and they really wanted me to join, so I gave it a shot and I loved it. After all these years I've gained a second family here. Some of my favorite memories are from my time spent with my teammates, who I now call my best friends. I love the bus rides to competitions, when we all sing together and feel so connected before we even step into the competition arena. Another highlight for me was being named to Team USA and competing Internationally. Winning gold at an international competition is definitely the most special experience I've gotten to be a part of. l cherish getting to work alongside my teammates to achieve our goals!"
